To get started, he borrowed his girlfriend's sewing machine and began crafting his solution. With the encouragement from friends and family, Spaly turned his project into a business venture. His Stanford University Graduate School of Business partner classmate, Andy Dunn joined in, and became the company's CEO. The company then moved its headquarters to Manhattan, and is still headquartered there today.
